What is the maximum continuous temperature these materials can withstand?
High-performance solder pallet materials are rated for continuous operational temperatures of 180C to 220C, with short-term excursion limits up to 280C to 300C for wave soldering and reflow processes. Always check the Tg (Glass Transition Temperature) value on our Technical Data Sheet (TDS) to match your specific thermal profile.
What ESD resistivity range do your solder pallet materials offer, and does it fade over time?
Our anti-static solder pallet materials maintain a stable surface resistivity of 10^6 to 10^9 ohms (static dissipative zone). For our Volume (Integral) ESD sheets, the anti-static properties are a permanent physical attribute integrated throughout the entire resin matrix. They will not wear off, wash away, or decay due to physical abrasion or chemical flux exposure.
Why is "Volume-ESD" mandatory for CNC-machined solder pallets instead of "Surface-ESD"?
Solder pallets require extensive CNC routing, pocketing, and drilling. Surface-ESD materials only have a thin anti-static layer on the top and bottom; milling exposes the internal insulating core, creating static dead zones that risk frying sensitive ICs. Volume-ESD (Integral) materials are homogeneous, ensuring every newly exposed pocket wall and edge maintains identical anti-static protection.
Are these materials easy to machine, and what tooling should be used?
Yes, both G10/FR4 and solder pallet materials offer high dimensional stability and low burr formation during CNC machining. However, due to the high glass fiber content, carbide or diamond-coated (PCD) cutting tools are highly recommended to prevent tool wear and ensure sharp, clean edges on intricate pockets.
How do these materials perform against soldering fluxes and cleaning solvents?
Our solder pallet materials are chemically inert to standard rosin, water-soluble, and no-clean fluxes, as well as aggressive cleaning solvents (like IPA and saponifiers). They will not swell, delaminate, or soften during routine maintenance cycles.
What is the typical lifespan of a solder pallet made from your materials?
Lifespan depends on the operating temperature, flux type, and fixture design complexity. Typically: High-Tg ESD FR4 lasts 5,000 to 10,000 thermal passes. Solder pallet materials last 15,000 to 18,000+ thermal passes under standard wave soldering conditions.
Can you provide thickness tolerances and sheet flatness specifications?
Absolutely. Dimensional precision is critical for SMT alignment. Our sheets are manufactured under strict ISO quality standards, providing tight thickness tolerances (up to +/-0.10 mm) and excellent surface parallelism to prevent solder bleeding or PCB warping during process passes.
